The Reboots Are Coming!

2021 is proving to be the year of the reboots. Now we all know that reboots aren’t anything new. We’ve seen the reboot of 21 Jump Street, Walker, Saved By The Bell,

The Wonder Years

The original Wonder Years show aired in 1988, three years before I was born. So, naturally, I didn’t watch it and as far as I can remember I never watched the reruns either. It just didn’t appeal to me at all. Even now, I can’t picture myself watching it. I just can’t connect to the characters. But with this reboot I will be watching it from start to finish. I wasn’t born in the 60s so obviously I can’t relate to the times but I do relate to the characters. Plus any chance I get to watch Dulé Hill, I will. As of yet, we don’t have a premiere date but once we do I will shout it from the rooftops to you all.

Redemption: Leverage

Leverage is a modern day Robin Hood story. They steal from the criminals and corrupt business men and give to those that were wrong by them. It premiered in 2008 and aired for a strong five seasons. I actually didn’t catch this show while it was on air but I had the pleasure of watching it while on vacation. One of the best things to me about this show is that it doesn’t have to be watched in order. You can watch any episode at any point in time and not feel lost in the story. Sometimes you really do want to zone out while watching tv and it was the perfect show. Timothy Hutton won’t be in this reboot but we do get the other four main characters and two new fresh faces as well. Leverage: Redemption will be premiering on IMDb TV (for free) on July 9th.

iCarly

If you ask me, this will be the funniest reboot to date. iCarly was one of the silliest and goofiest shows to ever air on Nickelodeon. While I didn’t watch it in its entirety, I enjoyed every minute of it that I did watch. iCarly will premiere on Paramount+ on June 17th.

Gossip Girl

This show doesn’t need any type of introduction. It ran for 6 seasons for a total of 121 episodes and it changed TV as we know it. Every network wanted their own version of Gossip Girl but none of them touched a candle to it. So now we get a reboot. A new generation and new characters. Let’s see how this one holds up. Gossip Girl will premiere on HBO Max on July 8th.

Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin

Pretty Little Liars was a highly successful show from 2010-2017. It kept us captivated with every crazy twist and turn. I’m pretty sure everyone was ‘A’ by the end of the show. They tried their hands at a lot of spin-offs but none of them lasted more than 1 season (I was actually into The Perfectionists so I was upset about that). There is an Indonesian Pretty Little Liars that seems two be getting renewed for a 2nd season but I digress. So far we don’t have any information besides the fact that it is in development. So maybe this will take place before the original series. As always, when I find out the story and the premiere date, I will shout it from the rooftops to you. Just now that you will need to have an HBO Max subscription to watch it.

Clueless

Clueless was going to be rebooted as a mystery tv series at Peacock TV but that idea was scrapped. That idea was probably for the best. If you don’t know, Clueless is loosely based off of the Jane Austen book ‘Emma’. That story doesn’t allow for mystery unless there were going to go the route of Nancy Drew and just use the character names and forget the premise. Either way, it’s getting reworked and hopefully it will be a worthy reboot.
