The 4400 Is Back And (hopefully!) Better Than Ever

The 4400 is back in action baby! Now, I haven’t always had cable my entire life. We only had it for a few years here and there. My sister and I got our cable fix at our granny’s house. To be honest, I don’t even have cable now. So when The 4400 premiered from 2004-2007 on USA, I didn’t watch it. Didn’t even know it existed. It wasn’t until I started paying for Netflix back in 2011 that I learned of this great show. I’m pretty sure The 4400 was the first show that I binge watched on there. And it was definitely the first show to let me down because it was CANCELED. The last episode of season four was a cliffhanger and there wasn’t a season five for me to watch. In all fairness, the show didn’t really know where it was going. It was flying by the seat of its pants but I was there for it.

Cut to 2021, we are getting an updated version of the show. This time called 4400. I know, I know, I was thinking the same thing as you. Removing the word “the” from the title gives it a whole different meaning! I’m sure they removed it so that people wouldn’t confuse the two shows, although it will happen anyway. Putting the word “the” in front of a title is part of human nature. They may as well have called the show “The 4400 Reboot” because that’s what I will be calling it.

4400 is based on the original TV series from Scott Peters and Renee Echevarria. Over 100 years, 4,400 overlooked and marginalized people vanished from the Earth. Then they were returned to Detroit, MI, the same age and without a single clue of what happened during the time they were missing. They now have to navigate their new lives. Oh yeah, it seems that they may have some powers as well. Like with any mysterious disappearance, the government tries to understand what has happened to the 4,400 people. It’s from CBS Studios, airing on The CW, and is executive produced by Ariana Jackson, Sunil Nayar, and Anna Fricke and Laura Terry. Ariana Jackson also wrote the pilot episode.

My hope is that we get a full, well planned story this go round. Also, that it doesn’t get canceled. You can watch the original series The 4400 on Netflix now. 4400 will air on The CW on Monday, October 25th at 9pm. Will you be watching?
